Description

The obverse of the coin depicts a more updated version of the Augustus Saint-Gaudens illustration. Changed details can be seen on the Capitol building, stars, Lady Liberty's torch, sunbeams, and other small details.

Lady Liberty proudly strides forward with a flaming torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. These two objects combine to signify the concept of peace through strength. Rays of sunlight radiate from the US Capitol behind her.

The reverse features a close-up image of the left side of a bald eagle’s head. Inscriptions surround the eagle including the country, weight, purity, denomination, “E Pluribus Unum”, and “In God We Trust”.
