On the left, “1923 - 2023”, respectively the date of birth of the writer and the date of issue of the coin. Around, the writings “REPUBBLICA ITALIANA” and “ITALO CALVINO”. Reverse: Depiction of a scene taken from the 1957 novel “The Baron in the Trees” by Italo Calvino, with the two protagonists Cosimo and Violante in the foreground. On the right, “R”, identifier of the Rome Mint, and the value “5 EURO”; in the exergue, signature of the author “AVecchio”.
