Description

“Rare are the people who use the mind, few are those who use the heart and unique are those who use both.” The tenacity, courage and unparalleled skills of the scientist Rita-Levi Montalcini in a portrait by the photographer Manuela Fabbri. In the background, a microscope on a horseshoe base - a symbol of luck, taken from a work by his brother Gino Levi-Montalcini - tells the extraordinary journey of the only Italian woman to have received the Nobel Prize for Medicine.

Obverse: In the foreground, portrait of Rita Levi-Montalcini inspired by a photograph by Manuela Fabbri; in the background, microscope taken from a medal designed by the brother of the Italian scientist Gino Levi-Montalcini, with the base in the shape of a horseshoe as a good luck charm for the award of the Nobel Prize for Medicine which was awarded to her in 1986.
