Hello Kitty was born on November 1, 1974 in the suburbs of London.

She is as tall as five apples, her main signature is a red ribbon that she always wears on her left ear and is characterized by her big heart. Her favorite word is friendship! As Hello Kitty says, "you can never have too many friends!"

Over the years, she has become one of the most unique pop characters, the symbol of the Japanese kawaii tradition and a global social icon and inspiration for everyone.

On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to this icon by striking collector's coins featuring the one and only Hello Kitty.

The obverse of the coin features Hello Kitty in a traditional Japanese kimono sheltering under an umbrella. In the background, fans, lanterns and cherry blossoms gently and poetically evoke Japanese culture.

On the reverse, bows, an essential signature that she always wears on her left ear. The words "50th anniversary" are also present as a reminder of her birthday. Hello Kitty holds the face value, the words "RF" and the year 2024 are present on the coin.
